A loco-hauled railtour run by SLAR from Nottingham to Penzance featuring Class 44 and Class 52 'Western' haulage on Saturday 13th November 1976.

44006 (leading) and 45041 brought the tour from Derby into Birmingham New Street where the train reversed and D1013 'Western Ranger' took over.

The train reversed at Gloucester where D1013 is seen running round.

After arrival at Penzance the stock was removed and D1013 ran out to Ponsandane for refuelling.

Late in the evening D1013 rests at Birmingham New Street alongside a Class 312 EMU. The 44/45 combination took over here for the very late return to Derby and Nottingham.
