A loco-hauled railtour run by RPPR covering rare track around South Wales on Saturday 27th January 1979. Highlights were: The Vale of Glamorgan line, Tondu and Onllwyn.
37228 and 50008 lead the tour at a photo stop at Barry station. The tour is signalled on to the (then) freight-only Vale of Glamorgan line.
The 37 + 50 combo worked through to Tondu. Seen in the Bridgend branch platform - closed 9 years earlier and 8 years before reopening.
From Tondu, 37183 and 37190 took over to haul the train to Onllwyn via a reversal at Swansea Burrows Sidings. The train was originally advertised to continue on to Craig-y-Nos, but this last strech was refused, so the locos are seen running round at Onllwyn.
The train is ready to depart down the valley heading for Swansea High St station via reversals at Swansea Burrows and Briton Ferry.
