A DMU railtour run by the Branch Line Society covering rare track around South Wales on Saturday 19th February 1983. Highlights were: Trethomas, Oakdale, Ford Bridgend, Maesteg, Cwm and Coed Ely.
A gloomy morning at the old station of Trethomas on the Bedwas branch.
Then up another Eastern Valleys branch to Oakdale Colliery and the end of the loop at Colliers Arms.
Another visit to the Ford Branch, and another refusal for the A48 crossing.
On past Tondu and Maesteg to the absolute limit on the Maesteg branch, actually within the platforms of the erstwhile Nantyfyllon station.
The end of another branch, and again an old station is reached. This time Coed Ely in the gathering gloom. The next line, to Cwm Colliery, was travelled in the dark - inside as well as outside the train.
