Humber Navigator II
A loco-hauled railtour run by the Branch Line Society covering rare track around the Humber estuary on Saturday 10th October 1990. Highlights were: Hull Saltend, Hull King George V Dock, Goole Dock Sidings, Ferrybridge Power Station and Eggborough Power Station.
After proceeding to Saltend, the tour reversed at Hedon Road Sidings and then headed onto the quayside at Hull's King George V Dock, hauled by 47549.
On the return, passing Hedon Road Sidings, the tour is now hauled by departmental-liveried 47975.
The last branch of the day was the power station loop at Eggborough. From Goole, the top-and-tail 47s had been replaced by 56077, as seen here. Eggborough power station stopped generating electricity on 23rd March 2018. Demolition is in progress and the cooling towers were blown up in August and October 2021.
