Tywyn

By 1976, Tywyn was the only passing loop between Barmouth and Dovey Junction, and ,of course, home to the Talyllyn Railway. Despite a number of visits, I only seem to have two photos taken at Tywyn, and both of them are of 24133 on 2 seperate railtours.

24133 (with 24082 behind) stands in the down platform at Tywyn with a special from Crewe to Barmouth (the "Cambrian Coast Express") on a gloomy 5th June 1977.

Less than a year later, and on what turned out to be its final passenger working, 24133 is at Tywyn on 28th January 1978 with the Barmouth portion of another Cambrian Coast Express railtour, this time from London Euston. Remarkably, as it departed at 14:38, it would be the only train moving in the entire 57 miles of the Cambrian Coast line - there was a very sparse winter timetable operating in January 1978.
