The end of the line, and the departure point for the Irish ferries, Holyhead in the seventies and eighties was still a busy railway centre with its 4 platform station, freightliner terminal and engine shed. The shed (code HD) had 5 locos allocated - 3 air-braked 08s and the remarkable 2 class 01s - isolated from the network on Holyhead Breakwater.
