Llandudno - 22nd July 1979
To mark the centenary of the Conwy Valley Line, a small exhibition of railway artefacts had been set up in Llandudno station, and on Sunday 22nd July BR provided some rolling stock exhibits, positioned in the disused platform 5. Around lunchtime, the North Wales Railway Circle special train visited the station.
In platform 5, a 'refurbished' DMU, 24081 and 40186 were on show, all in impeccably clean condition.
Here's the view from the cab of 40186.
When the special arrived from Bangor it deposited its passengers and reversed into the carriage sidings to run round.
Also present in the station was the green 'celebrity' class 40 40106.
When the train returned to the station, the signal box steps provided this fine vantage point, with all platforms occupied.
