Llandudno Jcn - 22nd July 1979
As part of the Conwy Valley Centenary celebrations on 22nd July 1979, a special train ran from Crewe to Blaenau Ffestiniog. This special train actually visited Llandudno Junction 4 times. Here are pictures from the first and last visits.
Arriving from Crewe, 20165 and 20153 cross over to platform 2 at Llandudno Junction, as an engineer's train leaves from the up goods loop.
On the return from Blaenau Ffestiniog, the locos performed their fifth run-round of the day, leaving the stock in Platform 2 and using Platform 1 to get to the eastern end of the station.
Leaving for stations to Crewe. The yard sidings are full of engineer's vehicles, freight wagons and the stock of the 'Sunday Shuttle' DMUs.
Heading east past the junction with the Conwy Valley line.
Stunningly bright and clean, exhibition loco 24081 waits in the greyness of LLandudno Junction shed for its next turn of duty.
