Penmaenmawr

Undisturbed by the yet-to-be-built A55 Expressway, the area between the two headlands at Penmaenmawr and Penmaenbach presented a very different scene in the 1970s. The railway was different too, with Penmaenmawr signalbox controlling an array of semaphores, and stone traffic from the quarry leaving on relatively small local trip workings and by ship, from the now vanished jetty.
